MY PASSION
Community. The power of it. The wisdom in it. The strength it can create.
In both my personal and professional life, the value of community has been a source of profound inspiration. Over and over again, I find myself in awe of the tremendous power of community, which I define as people coming together from diverse backgrounds with cooperative spirit for a common purpose.
While working as an executive in high-growth technology companies I witnessed first hand the extraordinary things people can achieve, for themselves personally and for a larger whole --things they believed were impossible -- with the encouragement, strength, hope and shared wisdom of a committed group of people.
And personally, I have watched as my own life has been transformed through conversations with others, conversations “in community” of three or more people with a shared commitment. Through community, I’ve developed a deeper capacity for sustained connection with others and a greater emotional awareness and intellectual understanding of myself. My contact with others has helped open creative avenues that would have otherwise remained impassable.
And out of my experiences I have discovered my passion for creating communities where people can connect and discover their true selves, develop their talents and be appreciated for their contributions.
MY PATH
From a young age I have been what some may call an ‘over-achiever” or “Type-A personality”, accomplishing goals I set for myself scholastically, athletically and in almost every domain of my life. After earning a B.S. in Computer Science (while simultaneously working fulltime), I held a variety of executive level positions in the high-tech industry, and was involved with several successful IPO’s of technology companies.
While these achievements were adrenalin-producing and externally applauded, they were internally exhausting and unfulfilling. By the time I was 36 and facing divorce for the second time I was compelled to take on the internal examination of who I was and who I wanted to be-- in all aspects of my life including parenthood, couple-hood and career.
I embarked on a 5 year journey of personal discovery, and emerged from it with clarity for what was important to me, who I wanted to be in the world, and a renewed sense of purpose. I am grateful for the journey I call my life. I’m passionate and inspired by people’s stories, seeing the possibilities that lie ahead for them and being a guide and companion on their journeys.
